December Canadian Building Permits Down

Canadian building permits in December 2021 fell 1.9% from November to $11.16 billion (CAD) but increased 19.9% from the year-ago period.  Residential authorizations decreased 2.7% from November to $7.75 billion but were 19.1% higher than December 2020.  Single-family totals reached $3.63 billion, up 1.3% from November and rising 15.9% from the prior year.  Multi-family levels

Canadian Housing Starts Trend Lower in December

The monthly standalone seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of Canadian housing starts in December 2021 was 236,106 units, down 22 % from November.
