Total investment in Canadian building construction in May was $13.4 billion (CAD), increasing 60.1% from April. Residential construction jumped 57% from April to $8.4 billion, and non-residential totals were 65.6% higher in May at $4.9 billion. Single-family spending rose 71.7% to $4.1 billion and multi-unit dwellings grew 45.2% to $4.3 billion compared to April. See Statistics

Seasonally adjusted Canadian wood product sales in May were $2.15 billion, increasing 14.8% from April but down 12.2% from the comparable month last year. Furniture and related products rose 35.3% to $790 million from April but were 29.2% lower than May 2019. Canadian manufacturing sales for all industries increased 10.7% from April to $40.1 billion
