U.S. builder confidence for new single-family homes in September increased 1 point from August to 76, according to the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI). The HMI component gauging current sales conditions grew 1 point to 82 and the measurement of sales expectations in the next six months remained at 81
U.S. RV Shipments Break July Record
The RV Industry Association’s monthly survey of U.S. manufacturers reported that shipments reached a record high for July at 44,537 units, rising 3.5% over the comparable month in 2020. Canadian Construction Investment Down in July
Canadian building construction investment in July fell 1.7% from June to $18.1 billion (CAD). Residential construction decreased 2.6% to $13.4 billion and non-residential totals slightly increased, up 0.9% in July to $4.6 billion. Single-family spending declined 4.0% from June to $7.2 billion. Multi-unit levels dropped 1.0% to $6.2 billion in July. See Statistics Canada
